My journey - Villa de Patos

Context

As part of a young couple embarking on parenthood, I recognize the importance of leaving a positive and sustainable legacy for future generations. Guided by this vision, My family and I embarked on a transformative journey with the Villa de Patos team, to transition from conventional organic practices to regenerative agriculture. My expertise gained from previous projects, spanning plant nutrition, strategic planning, and customer UX, allowed me to put theory into practice and explore the true potential of regenerative agriculture.

Approach: Regenerative agriculture

Villa de Patos was at the crossroads of transitioning from organic to regenerative practices, and they sought our assistance in training their team to embark on this sustainable path. We proposed a comprehensive 3-phase project that aimed to restructure processes, enhance efficiency, and establish a culture centered on regenerative principles.

Phases:

Research: Utilizing the REX Farm methodology, we generated a process map to develop a waste management program and a brand identity communication plan.
Development: Building upon the insights gathered during the first phase, we created operational manuals and a communication plan to foster an improved organizational culture.
Implementation: Armed with the manuals and content from the previous phases, we consolidated an employee training program and crafted "experiences" for clients, further strengthening their commitment to regenerative practices.

Alliances and colaborations

Achievements:

Throughout the collaboration, the Biofabrica emerged as a central pillar in advancing Villa de Patos' regenerative journey. Noteworthy achievements include:

Implementation of a production calendar.
Elaboration of a process manual, streamlining operational responsibilities.
Reduction of MegaHumus production time by half.
Standardization of formulas.
Increased production of Vermicompost.

Learnings:

Communication within the organization is essential to achieve long lasting results
Working culture plays an essential role, often undermined, and can either lead to the success or failure of a project goal. It represents the most significant friction to change.
Strong leadership and cohesive teamwork, coupled with efficient working processes, are crucial for achieving successful results.
Well-defined goals and roles are essential for the team to work effectively.

Objective and Personal Achievements in the Framework of Food Sovereignty:

My journey at Villa de Patos not only allowed me to contribute to the transition towards regenerative agriculture but also provided an opportunity to apply my diverse expertise, ranging from plant nutrition to strategic decision-making and customer-centric focus. Through collaboration, we facilitated a shift towards more sustainable practices, fostering a profound impact on the food system and the environment. As I continue my quest for a regenerative future, I embrace the ever-evolving challenges with optimism and determination, seeking innovative ways to make a lasting difference.
